标题: Steps to propagate from seeds [打印本页] 作者: 李永骥 时间: 2015-3-12 22:07 标题: Steps to propagate from seeds 1. Use a soil that has easy drainage. I use small sizes pumice 1/4 cm very small.
2. Put the pumice in a dish and heat it in the microwave oven for 2minuts to kill any bugs in the pumice.
3. Let it cool down and fill the pot you will use with it. In my case I use a pat size 3x2cm seedlings like to be in tightly spaces, so crowding them up is ideal in my opinion. Shallow pots are good as they do not have very big roots .
4. Fill the pot to about 2 75cm and water the pumice very well. I recommend dunking it in water until you see all the pumice really wet.
5. Let it drain out a bit the water.
6. Tighten up a bit the pumice so it’s nice and even like a little bed of pumice and it doesn’t let the seeds sip down into the pot.
7. Spread the seeds on the bed of pumice and top dress it with a light layer of bigger size pumice over the seeds. This will keep the seeds standing and not collapsed and die as they start growing.
8. Spray the area where you dropped the seeds with a spray bottle of water, pure water.
9. Put the pot in clear plastic bag and spray water In the bag and make sure there is some air in the bag.
10. Zip -lock the bag to trap the air and condensation and put it in shade area “ Do not expose the pot to any sun” Never ever let this pot get direct sunlight. A place semi bright is ideal. I keep my seeds on the bottom shelve of in my greenhouse so they got some indirect light .
11. Three or 4 weeks later you will have seedlings growing
12. Make sure there is condensation in the bag to keep the seedlings growing and humid at all times.
13. No sun.
14. Once a week open the bag and let the seed get a bit of hair for 1 minute or so.
15. Close up the bag and make sure it has enough condensation in the bag and air.
16. If the bag needs condensation spray the bag … close it and do this process for the next 6-8 weeks.
17. Now you are ready to exposed the seeds 100% make sure you water them to make sure they do not dry up and die.. this means almost every day. I spry lightly every day.
18. Very very important. Do not plant seeds in the summer or winter.
