本新手最近正在学习与原始种有关的知识，为方便广大新手共同学习，老玩家温故知新，于是决定每天翻译一篇小文章。全部文字均由自己翻译，难免有疏漏之处，望指正。

H.apta 是H.arachnoidea 的一个变种，在Oudtshoorn北部的Schoemanspoort地区的许多山丘上都能找到它的身影。
这片地区靠近Cango Caves到Raubenheimer 大坝的主干道的岔口。
值得注意的是，分布在叶端的毛刺十分稀疏，使得植物看起来几乎无毛（注：指与通常的H.arachnoidea 长的不像）
这一特点并不局限于此地区，在其他地区如Ladismith 和Barrydale 都有这种情况。（无毛）
然而，就Oudtshoorn地区而言，这是我所知道的唯一一个物种，（注：原文以逗号结尾，意义似不完整）
在Schoemanspoort 的其他地区，H.arachnoidea 的其他变种都表现出毛刺浓密的特点，很容易与H.apta区分，它们在地理上都至少间隔数公里。
一种分析方式是将全部这些物种塞进一个单一的H.arachnoidea种当中。
另一种则是将它们看做不同的种或变种。
对于这两种系统，都有赞同者和反对者存在。

以前，对瓦苇的命名一度十分混乱。
这个物种曾被归类于H.helmiae 。
然而这似乎是个错误，因为后者使用了较为模糊的位置参考（注：vaque恐为vague之误，意为“模糊”，但本句仍不可解）并且它与Outeniqua/Langeberg山脉附近的H.heroldia或H.elizae更加相像。
H.apta 基本上被限制在相当陡峭湿滑，向南的悬崖上，因此攀爬悬崖是总会碰上该死的灌木丛，隐藏着钩子似的荆棘，它们以让你挂彩、撕烂衣服而闻名。
从照片中可以看出来，部分植物在开阔地生长。
这是很少出现的，因为通常情况下，植物在白天得有些遮阴。

Haworthia apta refers to relatives of Haworthia arachnoidea that arefound spread over a number of hills in the Schoemanspoort, north ofOudtshoorn.The area in question is close to the turnoff to Raubenheimer Damfrom the Cango Caves main road.Noteworthy is the sparsedistribution of bristles on the leaf-ends making the plants almost glabrous ina number of cases. This characteristic is not unique to plants fromthis area alone, but occurs also in other areas e.g. the Ladismith andBarrydale districts.As far as the Oudtshoorn district goes however thispopulation is the only one known to me,In other areas of the SchoemanspoortHaworthia arachnoidea affiliates occur that are densely bristled and these arereadily distinguished from Haworthia apta and it appears these different kindsare at least geographically separated by a number of kilometers. One way of looking at it would be toregard all these different forms as a single variable conglomerate of Haworthiaarachnoidea.Another way would be to separate them into different species orvarieties etc.Both systems seem to have pros and cons.The latter however givesus the opportunity to communicate clearly about specific plants.There has beensome confusion to names being applied to these Haworthias in the past.Thisspecies Was referred to as Haworthia helmiae (helmae).This however seems anerror as the latter has a somewhat vaque locality reference and the plantsresemble more Haworthia heroldia or elizae from near the Outeniqua/Langebergrange.Haworthia apta is mostly confined to rather steep slippery cliffs with asomewhat southerly inclination, and the way up is usually blessed with thickshrub that often hides hooking thorn bushes, notorious for not releasing theirvictims without blood loss and making ventilation holes in clothes. From the photographs it may appear thata number of plant grow out in the open.This is however seldom true as thevegetation in general will ensure some shade during the day,
