在某论坛看到一篇这样的文章,关于杂交特选新品种的?英文水平不行,还请来位大神帮忙翻译一下。谷歌翻译来的就不要复制了,挺麻烦的
1. I have a L. otzeniana C350 which has an unusual line diagonally opposite to the cleft. This plant came from a batch of C350 seed.
2. Two years later, I find another plant that is almost exactly the same but the diagonal line is not as clean.
3. When both plants are in flower, at the same time, I use the pollen from each plant to pollinate the other.
4. A year later, when the seed is ripe, I plant all the seed from both plants and then grow them until I can see which plants have the line nice and clearly ('good' plants from here on). These are F1 plants. Those 'good' plants are kept and the others destroyed.
5. The 'good' plants are grown on to flowering stage and the pollination process is repeated with the 'best' parent (the one that has the clearest diagonal line in point 1 above) as is the seed sowing a year later. These are now F2 plants.
6. The 'good' plants from this seed then goes through the same process in 4 and 5 above to produce an F3 hybrid which, by this time, should be fairly stable. The plants should ALL exhibit the traits I want (the nice clear diagonal line across the face of the plant)
7. Lastly, only the best of these F3 hybrids are kept and the rest are destroyed.
8. Bingo! A new 'cultivar' to be called something like: L. otzeniana cv. 'Southern Cross'
9. If you are keen, register the name with the ICN or simply register the name under PBR (Plant Breeders Rights) to protect the work you have put in.
